Conservative Comedy

I would be remiss in my duty as a “South Park Republican” if I didn’t alert you guys to a new show that fits the genre/ideology. Since the Left has lost its monopoly on fun, it isn’t surprising to see a rise in right-wing (generally libertarian) comedy. As the world becomes more politically correct, it seems like comedy is the last place where people can be completely honest.

Anyway, Carlos Mencia has a new show on Comedy Central called Mind of Mencia. If you like Dave Chappelle, then you’ll like Carlos. He goes even further than Chappelle, being as un-P.C. as you can possibly be. I watched his show last night and found it hilarious. Then I checked out his website and watched some of his uncensored clips. Even better. He covers everything: race, stereotypes, immigration, patriotism, war, current events. All the good stuff that can make people uncomfortable. But it’s so damn funny. Check it out!

I also found this nice interview he had with Tucker Carlson, the bowtie guy. You can watch it online, but here’s some interesting points from the transcript:

Carlson: So you’re clearly a conservative.

Mencia: You know what? I think I am. But I can’t say that I’m a conservative because of course I grew up Hispanic and you know, there’s Jesus Christ and Kennedy in my mom’s house. And - you know what I mean? I could never actually say it.

Carlson: Even as a comedian, even though you have license to tell the truth you can’t admit you’re a right-wing -

Mencia: No, all my views are totally that. They pretty much are. But I can’t actually say it because my mom would kill me and she’s still my mom.

Mencia: We live in this society where everybody, do it for me, can do you something for me? You know, we live in a society that says blacks and Hispanics want to be treated like equals and then white people say you know what? You’re right, you should be. We say oh, but can I get into the University of Texas with a lower G.P.A.? That’s not equal. That’s not what you asked for.

Mencia: They tell me to respect family. It’s part of why I respect - my mom is from Mexico and my dad is from Honduras and - Honduras and you’ll never find me saying Mexico is a great country or Honduras rocks or anything like that. I’m here for a reason. I love this country. It allows me to do things I could never do in those. I grew up with people that put a Mexican flag on top of their house and actually say I don’t understand how come nobody treats me like an American around here. [Well] there’s a big Mexican flag on your roof, dude… I’m saying if you made a choice to live in this country because it’s better than where you came from the least you could do say thank you.

Seriously. Check his stuff out. If you can take a joke, you’ll be laughing your ass off.
