>AIP members are either hardcore social conservatives or mistaken. In California, most people registered as AIP thought they were registering independents (it’s true!).

Makes sense. I should know that.

>So between the two explanations, I don’t know which one we should hope for.

Insane v. Clueless. Hmm.

To be fair, Wachovia hired Gould back in May 2005 and they issued their slavery apology in June. It's possible that the company had been thinking about doing it for some time now, even before Gould was hired. Unless there's something that I don't know about, then I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

Also, the Union Square Investments guy is a girl. AIP members are either hardcore social conservatives or mistaken. In California, most people registered as AIP thought they were registering independents (it's true!). So between the two explanations, I don't know which one we should hope for. But I'll give the Governator the benefit of the doubt here too.

Watch the Wachovia guy. This is the company that recently issued an "apology" for the fact that one of it's ancient ancestral groups once profited from slavery, as though it matters to anyone now. I certainly hope he won't extend the "apology" to include race-based admission to the University of California.
