Total Recall
The Governator may wind up leaving the way he came in: through a recall. A local doctor is about to initiate the recall process, as per NBC11:
It was a recall election that swept Arnold Schwarzenegger into office.
Now, a Berkeley doctor is using the same tactic to try and sweep him out.
Dr. Kenneth Matsumura announced he’s serving notice to the governor Friday.
Schwarzenegger will have 14 days to reply.
The doctor says he’ll then start collecting the million or so signatures needed to force an election.
He cites the governor’s efforts to cut nurse-to-patient ratios and his borrowing of money from the education budget as reasons for his recall drive.
If the doc wants a million signatures, he can probably find them in the Bay Area alone. The question is whether the rest of the state wants to go through another recall election. I read somewhere that since the recall process was created, every California governor has had recall attempts made against him; multiple times even. Only in Gray Davis’ case did a recall election actually happen, let alone be successful. Is this more wishful thinking on the part of disgruntled left-wingers, or will it be the real thing?

Another recall is not what this state needs.

The voters aren’t likely to approve a recall for the same term where they recalled Davis. Besides, a recall couldn’t occur until spring at the earliest, which means it would be over the last six months of the four year term. Also a number of people in 2003 threatened they would try to recall any governor elected, as revenge for Davis being recalled.

If this the quality of who’s promoting Schwarzenegger, a recall might actually work. I support it mainly because I’ll get to hear BCR members basically do the equivalent of whining “No do-overs!”

hhaha I can’t believe that even smashT is a freaking tool. I don’t know if you noticed the disaster that the recent administration and the republicans in congress caused, but Hilary will have a tail wind when running in 08. I hope she wins, we need balanced budgets (something Tom Delay won’t be able to deliver from jail).

Kerry had a tail wind, too. So did Gore, now that I think about it. It didn’t do them a whole lot of good.
Comment by Beetle — 10/2/2005 @ 12:32 pm
Approvals are at their lowest levels and Bush’s policy proposals are dead in the water. Once we nuke Iran it will be all over for the Republican Party. Of course there is a currency collapse looming, but that’s only for China to unleash.
And if Kerry did have a tail wind he basically went against it by being a fellow traveler about the war, his nonsensical Vietnam circus and the gutless refusal to call Bush out a liar.
Gore I remember won the popular vote and the Electoral College was determined otherwise.

2000-2005 Reps smashT USA
How about taking a break from your RNC altar and looking at things objectively. Where are the balanced budgets we finally achieved in the 90’s. Tools like you like to give credit to congress for that. Well it’s the same party in power, with the executive branch now, as well. What happened? Do people vote regardless of achievement or ideology and for name only? Can Bush tell everyone in the US to “f**k off” and still retain 90% approval among republicans?
And what’s so great about Arnold anyway? 37% aint bad, I guess
PS. I’m a registered republican. (At least until I submit the forms to reregister.)

Wow. I hear Baghdad Bob is accepting interns, you should definitely apply.
Eh, the polls are only accurate when they favor your point of view, huh? Do you even have stances on issues, or are you just a personality whore who analyses everything as Republican=Good, Democrat=Bad?
Comment by HB — 10/2/2005 @ 4:21 pm
BTW, good luck with abolishing the ASUC. I hear CalDems are gonna be helping with that.(”horse cawk” suckers according to smashT) Maybe you guys in BCR can get Karl Rove to give a speech about it or something. Why is it that the people at the forefront of abolishing a dominantly progressive student organization such as the ASUC are diehard Bush people?

Yeah whenever you get pwned you back off. First you build up republicans as ‘hot shit’ and than you start claiming how you actually dislike them. I don’t buy this ‘I criticize everyone I disagree with’, that is total bullshit. You have not broguht any legitimate point about republicans that you disagree with, only made fun of Jonp for disliking them.

You’re overdoing your little clown talk. If u r goi 2 typ lyke dis than at least make coherent sentences. I swear some people.
YOU brought up Hillary and her defeat, called me a democrat, started bragging about how republicans sweep every election and will keep on doing so.
I guess since you never back up your arguments with anything you are not accustomed to other people bringing relevant examples to rebut your points.
You’re just a fucking loser who can’t spell.
PS. Regarding the ASUC post. Yes I called you out on bullshit, it’s mainly for the benefit of CalDems. Don’t like it, well, that’s too bad.

Please, since the comments are best used as a tool for intelligent debate, and for people to gain more information about the issues (ideally), please try to avoid the horrid abuse of the English language. smashT, yes, I’m a Republican; and I’m usually not a Grammar Nazi, but please….. use full sentences with conventional spelling, for all our sakes!

You just got hella-pounded by HB!
Comment by ktp — 10/2/2005 @ 11:19 pm
Comment by smashT — 10/2/2005 @ 11:33 pm
Where to start:
1. “Approvals are at their lowest levels and Bush’s policy proposals are dead in the water.”
Bush’s numbers dropped down for a few days and the left can’t stop talking about it, even though the dip in approval has ended and Bush has recovered about five points now. And Bush’s proposals have been delayed by hurricanes, jusidicial nominations, and Congressional recesses. The left has declared Bush proposals dead on arrival before only to see them pass later, so we’ll see what happens in the next year.
2. “Gore I remember won the popular vote and the Electoral College was determined otherwise.”
Gore did not get a majority of the popular vote, something which incidentally no Democrat has achieved since Johnson. Bush won the 2000 election, like previous presidents, through receiving the most votes in enough states to have a majority of the delegates in the electoral college.
Gore completely blew the election since if he had won either Clinton’s home state, Gore’s OWN state, or the state of West Virginia; Gore would have been the president, even if Bush had received a majority of the popular vote. West Virginia incidentally had only voted Republican three previous times (1956, 1972, 1984) in large Republican landslides.
3. “98: reps smashT dems”
This is the last election that the Republicans blew. The Republican party tried to run against Clinton, while the Democrats ran alot of local campaigns. Democrats increased their seats in the House and Senate, took over the California legislature, and went from one state post in California (lieutenant governor) to all but the Insurance Commisioner.
4. “Where are the balanced budgets we finally achieved in the 90’s.”
The Democrats spent most of the 1990s fighting against balanced budgets and trying to increase spending by 8% per year. The Democrats are still fighting today to increase spending. What’s changed is that the Republicans in the Senate are now also increasing spending, and Bush isn’t doing enought to stop them.
The 1990s balanced budgets is where the Republicans in Congress and Clinton agreed to use all of the Social Security money for general budget purposes instead of worrying about future Social Security payments. This is how the “surplus” was created, the federal government changed their budget accounting method.
5. “Tom Delay won’t be able to deliver from jail.”
Interesting that alot of people jump to the conclusion that Delay is guilty when no evidence has been presented, and the last two politicians this prosecutor went after were political opponents, whom were exonerated. The Democratic startegy for 2006 seems to be the Republicans are the party of Delay, and this could easily backfire if Delay is also exonerated before the election.
