the new kid on the blog
Hello,
I am Ben Chapman, and like Mickey, I am a new blogger for the Patriot. A little about myself: I’m a second year poli sci major, and I write regularly for the Patriot magazine. I’m more conservative in terms of economic issues (such as smaller government, fiscal respobsibility, low taxes and regulation, and little government spending). I consider myself a social “moderate” (if there is such a thing) because although I tend to sympathize more with social conservatives, when it comes down to it, I really don’t care what people do as long as they leave me alone and don’t make me pay for it. Ultimately, I tend to come down on the side of civil liberties and freedoms. I believe in the power of freedom to improve the lives of the ordinary person, and I believe that with freedom comes the burden of responsibilities. I also believe in holding people accountable for the choices they make.
Well, that’s the kind of perspective you can expect from me in my future posts about state and national politics, and the usual Berkeley nonsense that comes up from time to time.
