  1. Dwight Watch.

So our favorite Bush admirer seems to be in love with hypocrisy more than he’s in love with Dubya.

He’s joined the “Official Protest to Remove Ted Cruz as the Commencement Speaker” facebook group. Now either you are gonna be “forming the first rank of a society dedicated for freedom {sic.}” or you are going to protest against this Ted Cruz guy:

“In November and December 2000, [Ted Cruz] helped assemble the Bush legal team, devise legal strategy, and draft pleadings in the Florida and U.S. Supreme Courts during the Florida presidential recount. From June 1999 to November 2000, Ted served as Domestic Policy Advisor to President George W. Bush on the Bush-Cheney campaign in Austin, Texas. In that capacity, he advised President Bush on a wide range of policy matters.”

Tsk, tsk, tsk. Looks like someone can’t make up their mind and looks like the Patriot is backing the wrong horse.

  2. seriously. are you really endorsing dwight because he’s a republican exec candidate? because that’s all he’s got going for him.

  3. Yeah what gives? Dwight is a horrible choice for any position…except possibly White House intern, the way he was sucking Bush’s d*ck.

  4. So Dwight loves President Bush too much, then not enough, eh LOL?? Why don’t you talk to him instead of making up reasons like “he’s a hypocrite!”

Dwight has a lot more going for him than just “being republican.” He has a good heart. Clearly you don’t know him, otherwise you’d know that. He’s an intelligent individual, and he knows how to make good choices.

And as for you, Mr. Mavis, I wouldn’t talk about people sucking Bush’s “d*ck.” Does no one remember that molester we had from ‘93-’01? Hmm… people who live in glass houses….

I’m glad to see the blog is supporting Dwight!

  5. “people who live in glass houses….”

How about the molester who we had from 2000 to 2008, who molested our Constitution.

  6. Dwight molested my pocketbook with his retarded fee increase proposal.

He also attempted to molest my intellect with his dumb ass love letter to President Bush. Speaking of love letters to Bush, didn’t the Patriot write him a Valentine a while back?

  11. Would you folks please, for the love of God, leave off the baseless accusations against candidates? You don’t support Dwight? Fine, don’t vote for him. But comments that are not grounded in anything but a sophomoric taunt are counterproductive to dialogue, and hurtful.

You have no idea what kind of hell every ASUC executive candidate has to go through, and they should be recognized for having the guts to even put themselves out there. Similarly, you surely have no idea how hurtful it is to find character attacks on blogs when a candidate comes home from another exhausting day. I’m not asking you to be nice, but please treat candidates with respect. Thank you.

  12. Igor,

    Here’s a rebuttal: Zack Liberman.

I win. You lose. Suck it.

    Comment by Bojangles — 4/11/2007 @ 11:29 pm

  13. Igor,

Where do you see character attacks? He can’t play for both teams and expect no one to raise an eyebrow.

Your apologetics for him is pretty weak. What is he offended now? Offended that someone, for a change, is calling him out? Well, whoop dee-doo, that sure makes him high and mighty.

    Comment by LOL — 4/12/2007 @ 12:36 am

  14. I’m not saying “Don’t call him out.” I’m saying that, if you call him out, do so in a respectful critique and not a malicious attack on his character.

Zach Liberman and I are about in the same boat. Too bad the number of votes he got for president approximately equal the margin of votes by which I lost.

  15. Calling out Dwight for his hypocritical actions is a fair approach. The guy talks out of both sides of his ass. It’s a serious character flaw that makes up a very sizable portion of his public persona. Igor and the rest should get out of the way of this spread of relevent information for the sake of student body welfare, and furthermore observe the rights of others to exercise free speech.

    Comment by Mr. Mavis — 4/12/2007 @ 9:55 am

  16. Telling someone to shut the fuck up is an equally valid expression of free speech and doesn’t infringe on anyone else’s rights. Please don’t quote those rights in this situation. It cheapens them so much.

    Comment by Beetle — 4/12/2007 @ 10:11 am

  17. Hey Beetle, suck on my left nut. Wanna talk about rights? How about you practice your right to remain silent?

    Comment by Mr. Mavis — 4/12/2007 @ 10:16 am

  18. Wow, this conversation is regressing into cheap mud slings, and I’m going to retreat to my problem sets. Before I do, however, I’d like to correct the record in saying that I am most certainly NOT a Dwight apologist. In fact, my endorsement is listed on Danny’s lit. As a former candidate who weathered his share of unsubstantiated attacks under the veil of anonymity, I just remember how much it sucked and how emotionally painful it was. But if you wish to make worthless the value of discussion, go right ahead.

    Comment by itregub — 4/12/2007 @ 11:21 am

  19. Maybe Dwight was right, maybe you endorsed Danny because you’re still mad you didn’t get Student Action’s nomination as an exec.

    Comment by Mr. Mavis — 4/12/2007 @ 11:27 am

  20. If that’s what he said, he would be lying through his teeth. He most certainly did not ask me why I gave my endorsement to Danny.

By the way, it was a difficult decision, as I consider both to be my friends. In the end, however, the candidate who I consider to be most qualified for the position.

    Comment by itregub — 4/12/2007 @ 11:31 am

  21. should read…
In the end, however, my endorsement goes to the candidate who I consider to be most qualified for the position.
