Even though it's unclear as to if better policies in Berkeley could have prevented this tragedy, Megan's point remains valid and should be one to consider. She wasn't using a tragedy to score political points, she showing how a tragedy might be the result of not heeding a point she's made before (see some of her other posts about Berkeley safety).
