Supporting UC Berkeley military veterans

I really enjoyed Javier Tenorio’s article on his experience as a military veteran on the Berkeley campus. It was great to read about a Berkeley student who has done so much for his country by serving in the Marines.

I was a little surprised to read that UC Berkeley has done a good job at helping student military veterans like Javier. While the city of Berkeley and some student groups on campus do not respect military service, it’s nice to see that the officials on campus are helping out.

It helps the university to have school officials fostering an environment where student military veterans feel comfortable on campus. Also, this attitude towards the military will probably help Berkeley students in ROTC because they will be confident that the school will support them in their pursuit towards serving in the military.

Persuasive case against abortion

Andrew Quinio’s article on “The alienable right to life” was a great read. I believe that he argued successfully that babies do have a right to life after the conception of two consenting adults. It was great how he fused the right to life with the liberty of the people and the declaration of independence.

Also, Andrew’s remark about his sister working at a hospital during Christmas and looking at the nursery was really well written. I could almost picture myself at that hospital and staring at those newborn babies.
