The California Patriot is an independent journal of news and opinion published at the University of California, Berkeley for the campus and local community. The California Patriot was founded on January 28, 2000 by a group of Golden Bears dedicated to providing a vehicle for the expression of conservative ideals and philosophy on campus.

In an area dominated politically and intellectually by radical, outspoken, leftist organizations, it is our moral obligation to balance class liberal saturation with conservative viewpoints that will no longer be maligned and stifled. Our hope is to enable students at Berkeley to hear both sides of issues through a publication that combines opinion, humor, and feature articles in a way that will serve to expose, educate, and express our conservative thoughts and convictions.

EXPOSE
The California Patriot will strive to great lengths to expose the campus community to counter perspectives of current events, campus and political issues that are misrepresented and underreported by the liberal establishment that runs our University. Our publication will challenge the atmosphere of "tolerance and openness" that seems to only apply to liberal thought.

EDUCATE
The California Patriot will facilitate opportunities to develop leadership, journalistic, and business skills by writing, producing, and distributing our publication. In addition, our goal will be to stimulate and educate the Cal student community by providing a magazine for those tired of the dry, mindless editorials and articles of other campus publications.

EXPRESS
The California Patriot will allow for true freedom of speech by all students. This new millennium will finally see the silent majority of our campus have a voice that will compete and ultimately overcome the outspoken radical factions that have rendered many campus institutions ineffective and trivial. A new voice has erupted that will change the way the world looks at the University of California, Berkeley. The California Patriot is that voice.
